Work – Play – Being Productive

By: Tracey Beveridge

WISDOM – The quality of experience, knowledge and good judgement. Being wise.

Can we really find the balance in applying wisdom with our finances while juggling the big three ?

What big three?

WORK  –  PLAY  –  BEING PRODUCTIVE

What do I mean?

We can use wisdom while balancing our finances in WORK, PLAY and BEING PRODUCTIVE. So from a personal point of view, the wisdom is in knowing how important all three of the above are to having and maintaining a healthy and balanced lifestyle, while not putting aside the important work and responsibilities of each day.

How can I achieve this?

I am sure that you know how, but maybe not sure where to get started.

By putting a measured time on each of those three, in order of importance, one can avoid the ugly result of stress. By not apportioning each in its proper time and place, one can lose the primary reason for having a sound financial plan in all matters.

The primary reason, is to have a solid, stable and secure future for ourselves which includes important time out from daily duties for your health and wellbeing, and the happiness of your family.

TIME is precious. Once lost, it can never be regained.

Quote – Hippocrates. Time is a created thing. To say “I don’t have time” is to say “I don’t want to”.

How can I use my new available time to be productive and improve my wellbeing, while making my family and friends happy?

Some cool suggestions for TIME OUT

I am sure that 9 in 10 of us have travelled to some exotic desirable place either locally or internationally and are yearning to get away from lockdowns and expand your cultural experiences again. That trip planned some time ago is now long overdue.

Here are some local ideas :

Paint and SipYou can paint a masterpiece for your wall while sipping wine and eating cheese with friends. Much fun to be had, especially comparing your results after a few glasses of vino! There are many available classes in Brisbane and the Gold Coast and some  even have a Clay & Sip session. This is for men and women. Just google Paint and Sip and you will come up with a list to choose from.

Photography / Creative projects – How long has it been since you had a professional family or friends portrait taken? Overdue? There is a wonderful little place in Byron Bay called “The Hinterland Studio” where they offer you a beautiful space to expand your creativity such as a photo shoot, a special event, meetings, work projects and more. They have bathroom and kitchen amenities on site with a tea and coffee station to keep you going all day if need be.

The building provides wonderful opportunities for photography with archways, old rustic doors, French doors, white on white walls with large windows opening out on to lush greenery and more. A selection of photographic equipment and props are also available for hire. A blissful place to create some precious memories or getting in the groove for a creative project away from the hustle and bustle.

Charity Morning Tea – Why not host a morning tea for a local charity. Invite your best friends, serve vino, sweet delicacies, fresh fruit and some tasty savouries. Collect some donations (monies or goods) have fun and donate! Rotate the event with your friends.

Cheesemaking – Have you ever made your own cheese? No? Why not try? Here is a wonderful idea, check out opportunities in your area with your friend Google.

For those around Brisbane, a great place to start is www.cheesemaking.com.au

If you have an appreciation for Greek cheese, check out Pandelyssi cheese. Made by Greeks in their home factory in Holland Park, Brisbane. They supply to the restaurant trade and will sell directly to the public at good wholesale prices. (I think it is pick up only). Something to go with your vino on a Saturday night!

We have only touched on a few items here to get you thinking.

If you have your own recommendations for ‘play’ activities that you really loved, please add them in the comments section below.

Remember, good Play balances your Work, and can make you more Productive!
